Tulip Top

What you will be doing:

Want to up your summer wardrobe or make a renaissance festival outfit you’ll want to wear all year round? Here comes the TulipTop! With a square neckline, shaped seams along the bust, and tulip inspired hem, this pattern is a great foray into sewing more structured, corset adjacent tops while still prioritizing comfort at the waist. With two different bust fitting options and adjustable laced up side panels, this pattern allows for a fully customized fit.

You’ll learn to install grommets (best for more structured fabrics and more corseted fit) or sew rouleau loops (best for lighter fabrics and more size flexibility), while getting more comfortable sewing curves. You’ll construct a lining, and get lots of experience topstitching.

What do you bring?:

All supplies are available at Handcraft Happy Hour and can be purchased with a 10% class discount.

• Copy of the Tulip Top pattern from Fortiv (note that this pattern has two built-in bust options for different cup sizes, and goes up to a 57” bust and 60” hip), and is available online as a PDF Pattern. We will give you additional support and guidance for getting this pattern printed! 

• Medium to heavy weight structured woven fabric for exterior, such as denim, cotton twill, or canvas.

• Lightweight to medium weight woven cotton fabric for lining, quilting cotton works great here!

• Size 00 or 0 grommets (optional, can also sew loops instead)

• All purpose cotton or polyester thread to match your fabric and (optional) contrast thread for topstitching.

• Ribbon for lacing up sides. You can also make these ties out of coordinating fabric.

• If you have your own machine - bring it! Let us know what kind it is beforehand so we can find the manual for you if you don't have it. If you don't have a machine - we have one that you can use.

Cancellation Notice: We kindly ask that students give a minimum 1 week notice for class credit/reschedule and a 2 week cancellation notice for full refund. This advance notice will allow us to make any necessary adjustments to our schedule and accommodate other makers.

Refunds: Class cancellations made with a 2 week notice or more will either receive a full refund on a gift card, or a full refund minus the $5 card processing fee to the card that was used to purchase the class registration. This fee accounts for the costs associated with the transaction and ensures a smooth and secure refund process. Multi-week courses fill more slowly and a 72 hour notice (current single class policy) is not enough time to fill an empty spot.
