Garment Fabrics 101

What you will be doing: From understanding weight, drape, and stretch percentage, to knowing what the heck the difference is between rayon and tencel, you will leave with all the knowledge you need to feel confident when choosing your garment fabrics!

You’ll get hands-on experience sewing each type of seam finish, and you’ll leave with samples of each type of seam finish so you can refer to them later.

Skill Details:	No prior sewing experience necessary, but it will be helpful to have some general sewing or design knowledge.

Instructor Bio:	Mikayla Turner (@mikayla_sews) is a lifelong sewist who has found that the only thing she loves more than spending time at her machine is teaching others to sew! She primarily sews garments but has been known to make quilts from time to time. Her insatiable curiosity drives her to learn everything she can about sewing, always expanding her skill and expertise. As an instructor she has a particular passion for teaching beginners, and strives to create a learning environment that is welcoming, accessible and inclusive.
