Buttons + Buttonholes

What you will be doing:

Whether you’re sewing a button down shirt or a pair of pants, knowing to sew buttons and buttonholes will make these projects a breeze!

To learn these skills, we’ll be making a throw pillow cover with a nifty button closure! If you have an in-progress project that is ready for buttons and buttonholes, feel free to bring that along instead.

What do you bring? All supplies are available in the shop with a 10% discount.

  • ½ yard of quilting cotton or other light to midweight woven fabric

  • ¼ yard of lightweight interfacing

  • 14” throw pillow insert

  • Buttons (~4 for larger buttons, ~6 for smaller)

  • All-purpose cotton or polyester thread

  • If you have your own machine, please bring it! Let us know what kind it is beforehand so we can find the manual for you if you don't have it. If you don't have a machine we have class machines available to use.

  • Buttonhole presser foot (if using your own machine)

  • Button sewing presser foot (optional but helpful if using your own machine)

  • Basic sewing supplies (thread snips, fabric marking tool, etc. We have all of these in the classroom so no worries if you don’t have them or forget!)
