Seam Finishes | Skill Builder

What you will be doing: Sewing patterns often don’t give much guidance when it comes to finishing seams and choosing the right seam finish for your project, but finishing your seams is critically important for making garments, bags, home decor, and any other items that you want to ensure hold up well through washing and wearing.
You’ll get hands-on experience sewing each type of seam finish, and you’ll leave with samples of each type of seam finish so you can refer to them later.
What do you bring? All supplies are available in the shop with a 10% discount.
-
½ yard of quilting cotton cut into 5” squares. We’ll need 18 for our seam finish samples, but it’s helpful to have a few extras just in case! Before class we will provide additional guidance and support for cutting out your squares.
-
All-purpose cotton or polyester thread in a contrasting color
-
If you have your own machine, please bring it! Let us know what kind it is beforehand so we can find the manual for you if you don't have it. If you don't have a machine we have class machines available to use.
-
Basic sewing supplies (thread snips, fabric marking tool, etc. We have all of these in the classroom so no worries if you don’t have them or forget!)
