The essential sewing skills every person (sewist or not) should have at their disposal

Will show both what you can do by hand and what you can do with a machine

Will discuss different hemming techniques for different types of fabrics

Although not a requirement to learn the skills, if you happen to have a pair of pants or skirt that needs to be hemmed or a garment with a missing button, please bring them along! These will be used as demonstrations to the class, and depending on timing we may also be able to work on them together.

For hemming, we will have you change into the pants/skirt to be hemmed. We have a bathroom available, but if it’s easier and quicker it may help to wear a pair of shorts or leggings under your clothes.

You are welcome to bring your own machine if you have one, but we have machines you can borrow

She primarily sews garments but has been known to make quilts from time to time. Her insatiable curiosity drives her to learn everything she can about sewing, always expanding her skill and expertise. As an instructor she has a particular passion for teaching beginners, and strives to create a learning environment that is welcoming, accessible and inclusive. |
