Hemming

Back to Basics Class

  • The essential sewing skills every person (sewist or not) should have at their disposal

  • Will show both what you can do by hand and what you can do with a machine

  • Will discuss different hemming techniques for different types of fabrics

  • Although not a requirement to learn the skills, if you happen to have a pair of pants or skirt that needs to be hemmed or a garment with a missing button, please bring them along! These will be used as demonstrations to the class, and depending on timing we may also be able to work on them together.

  • For hemming, we will have you change into the pants/skirt to be hemmed. We have a bathroom available, but if it’s easier and quicker it may help to wear a pair of shorts or leggings under your clothes.

  • You are welcome to bring your own machine if you have one. We also have machines you can borrow
